The Woman in Scandinavian Literature.

The course examines the works of major women writers in Scandinavia in the context of the growing women's movements in the Nordic region and wider questions of feminist scholarship. Texts from nineteenth-century authors, such as Camilla Collett, Fredrika Bremer, Victoria Benedictsson, and Amalie Skram, and twentieth-century writers, such as Isak Dinesen, Gerd Brantenberg, Cora Sandel, Suzanne Brøgger, and Selma Lagerlöf will be analyzed.
