(3 credits)

The course is a direct continuation of 407 Old Norse. Its primary purpose is a linguistic one: to obtain a reading knowledge of Old Norse-Icelandic through the study of Old Norse-Icelandic grammar and selections of Old Norse-Icelandic texts. It builds on the aspects of grammar studied in 407 Old Norse and focuses on verbal inflections and syntax. Moreover, students translate a variety of Old Norse-Icelandic texts, both prose and poetry, in order to increase their vocabulary.
